Domestic life

In Bozeman we are preparing for winter. Earlier this week, we had another sweet slice of summer, but now it’s raining in town.

Pat shot a bull elk on opening weekend of bowhunting season, so he spent a day butchering in the kitchen. He’s out hunting again this week.

Nick chainsawed rounds of beetlekill pine we’d cut down on National Forest land near town. His wood stove is new this winter, and he’d still like to collect more wood. I estimate we have five cords – plenty of splitting to do already.

Rebecca harvested beets, carrots and green beans from the garden she planted behind the house.

The dogs ran circles around the cherry tree, completely berserk:

And I dreamed of rock and wild places.
